Course: Natural User Interaction
My Role: UX Engineer
Latest smartphones allow users to control functions of an application with the help of touch, motion, and speech. The aim is to understand how such interactions can be applied to control a most commonly used application.
Design and develop a music player application that allows natural user interactions to control its most frequently used functions.
Conducted 1:1 interview with people between the age group of 18 and 30 to understand their expectations. Personas and scenarios were drafted to highlight one of the needs of the application.
Analyzed and tested the usability of some of the most popular music players like Google Play and Sensor Music Player. Based on the findings, the necessary controls were selected as the primary features with storyboard narrating the need of one of them.
Paper prototypes were created to understand the user flow and further improvement for the final product. A proof-of-concept application was developed in Android Studio. Think-out-loud usability tests were conducted and hits and misses were recorded.
A mobile application was developed to lay out the guidelines for designing a perfect gesture-controlled music-player. I received an 'A' grade for this specialization course.
